Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.Philippians 2:4-7
As we give of what God has entrusted to us, we are becoming more and more like Jesus who gave everything for us. At First Trinity, we are so grateful for the outrageous generosity of God’s people!
Every gift we receive is a precious offering and so we take giving seriously. We operate with a balanced budget presented to and approved by the members of First Trinity at the August Congregational Meeting each year. We have strong financial controls in place to prevent theft and misuse of funds, requiring multiple people be involved in receiving or spending money. In addition to this, we employ an outside firm to review our books annually. The financial review and other financial documents like budgets, profit and loss, or Treasurer’s reports are available upon request in the main office.
He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God.2 Corinthians 9:10-12
Multiple Ways to Give
We recommend giving to Mission and Ministry first, then additional funds after that. This is the fund that pays for most of what we do here. Here are some of the ways to give:
We believe in offering multiple ways for people to support the ministry of God in this place. The fastest and most secure method of giving is through our online giving portal. This ensures accurate data entry with less room for human error. You can give once or set up a recurring gift on a schedule that works for you. You can also check your giving history at any time in our member portal.
Online giving and text-to-give use the same system, so as long as your cell phone is registered to your account, you are good to go with both options. To get started, text “Give” to 716-710-8800 to get started. If you haven’t set up an account, you will be prompted to do so. After setting up your account, text a number to give that amount. (ie, text “50” and it will automatically deduct $50 from your primary payment account and mark it for Mission and Ministry.) Text “keywords” to see other giving options, then text the keyword followed by an amount to give. (ie, text “Haiti 50” to give $50 to Haiti Missions.)
There are offering plates on the way in and out of worship. If you would like to give with cash or check, this is the best option. Numbered offering envelopes are available upon request. If you can’t make it to worship one week, you can mail your gift or stop by the office during normal business hours.
We are able to receive offerings in the form of stocks. To make a stock donation, contact Jim Pritchard, our Ministry Operations Manager.
Give Directly From Retirement Accounts
If you have a minimum retirement distribution to achieve, your gift directly to the church could count towards the withdrawal. If you are over 70.5 years, you may be able to reduce your tax burden by giving directly to the church from your IRA. There is a charitable rollover provision that allows up to $100,000 per year directly from your IRA to a qualified charity such as First Trinity. Under this plan, your gift does not count as taxable income. Please consult your tax adviser and IRA Trustee to make sure you meet the qualifications to take advantage of this provision and that the distribution is properly processed.
Passive Giving Options
If you shop on Amazon, First Trinity may be able to receive 0.5% of your purchase through the Amazon Smile Program. To get started, designate the church as your charity of choice with this link. After that, anytime you shop at Amazon.com, be sure to start at smile.amazon.com instead. You can also install a browser extension to always make sure you end up at the Smile version of Amazon using the links below for your browser:
Purchase Gift Cards (RaiseRight)
Whether it’s buying a gift for someone else or doing your own shopping, consider buying a gift card through the church. Our Youth Ministry sells them at face value but gets them at a slight discount. The profits help send youth on mission trips. Stop by the office between services on Sunday or on Wednesdays to make a purchase. You can also download the RaiseRight app (Apple, Google) for your phone to buy online. Many retailers have instant digital codes available within the app. You’ll need our organization code to get started:
Thrivent Choice Dollars
If you are a member of Thrivent Financial, you can direct Choice Dollars to First Trinity. Check the Thrivent Member Portal to get started. You may also be able to request Thrivent Action Grants for ministry programs here. Contact the office to find out about ministry options that may qualify for an Action Grant.
