Mission Trip Updates
Ian Relief Trip: Day 7
Hey friends! We had a great day today helping at 4 different sites. Michelle and Nancy did more work pulling branches at another property. Jim and David cleared out two small jobs, then joined Dan, Susan, Jason and two others from the Orlando area: Bill and Mike. This is a short update because we spent more time on the worksite than usual to finish it up and then spent much of the night packing. We plan to leave at 6…
Ian Relief Trip: Day 6
Our team went in three directions today. Steve helped out with supply and food disbursement at the church. From 9-Noon each day they hand out supplies for people in the community. This includes a lot of the supplies that were purchased from the Amazon wish list we posted on Day 0. Tim Richter, the DCE here at Zion, organizes those efforts. As part of our team returned home from their site we saw a big Amazon delivery getting sorted and…
Ian Relief Trip: Day 5
Today’s adventures took us back to the mobile home park to complete their muck out as well as helping a neighbor with a few items. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to help her as much as we’d like because there were other needs we had to get to at another house. The main project there was completed though. We were able to get all the flooring out, all appliances except the fridge, and muck out everything on our list. Jim, David,…
Ian Relief Trip: Day 4
Quick update tonight as we’re pretty tired and getting ready for bed. We spent the morning back with our first set of houses and finished all the work there. Residents were very thankful for our efforts and the team did a great job! After lunch, we sent a small contingent to a new site. The homeowner at this second site lived in a trailer right on the river. It was a beautiful view, but because of their proximity, they received…
Ian Relief Trip: Day 3
We spent our first two days traveling down to Ft. Myers for our mission trip. The trip was uneventful, but we did get to enjoy God’s beautiful creation as the leaves were changing. We also got to stop at a Buc-ee’s. It’s hard to describe, but it is certainly an experience. The work week started today as we went to one street to help residents. Judy lost nearly everything in her house. We ended up tearing out drywall up 4…

¡Hola de Guatemala!
Hello from Guatemala! The team is doing well and have had a great first couple of days getting settled in at Casa Bernabé. Here’s a little bit about what we’ve learned: The orphanage operates in family units. There are nine “casas” (houses) around the property: 4 for girls, 4 for boys, and 1 baby house. Each casa has a Christian couple serving as house parents, one helper (often one of the teachers), and 10-15 kids (including any biological kids the…

Joining Jesus on His Mission in Haiti: Children’s Ministry in Mon Bergieux
Many things to write about here, and I don’t know how much chance I’ll have to write, so this is just one peek… Yesterday we had people all over the place, serving God and His people in Haiti: Dan, Larry and Dale were high up in the mountains, carrying very heavy cinder blocks in muddy, hilly terrain. They are helping to rebuild the home of Etani, a former caretaker at the Children of Israel Orphanage. Her home was mostly destroyed…

Help the People of Costa Rica this Christmas with a Special Offering
We have a tradition of supporting ministries outside First Trinity through a special offering on Christmas Eve and Easter. For Christmas, we focus on an international ministry. We’re excited to be supporting Josh and Kari Keithley, missionaries to Costa Rica. Josh was on staff at First Trinity in 2004-2005 for his DCE Internship. We’ve asked Josh to share their plans, which you can read below. To the community of Tonawanda and family and friends of First Trinity: It is an…

Texas Mission Trip Update
First Trinity launched a Texas Mission Trip for Harvey Recovery on very short notice last week. In total, 8 people joined us for the 10-day trip. What a blessing it has been to the people here in Texas, as well as to the team. A few fun stories: We spent the first and part of the second day helping the Pastor of our host church (Memorial Lutheran in Katy, TX) finish cleaning out his house. We removed drywall, doors and…
