Quick update tonight as we’re pretty tired and getting ready for bed. We spent the morning back with our first set of houses and finished all the work there. Residents were very thankful for our efforts and the team did a great job! After lunch, we sent a small contingent to a new site.
The homeowner at this second site lived in a trailer right on the river. It was a beautiful view, but because of their proximity, they received a lot of water in the trailer. We were able to tear out the kitchen cabinets and remove drywall so the main part of the trailer could start drying. We also removed screws from the studs to facilitate new drywall when they are ready for that.
As we were leaving this site, another resident in the complex asked us to check on a lady who was stuck working mostly by herself. We were able to take a work order and hope to have multiple teams onsite in the morning to help with that project in addition to completing the first one.
We capped off our evening with chainsaw training class. It’s the first step to getting certified for chainsaw work. We complete the class on Thursday morning with a practice session helping another local Lutheran church that has some trees down as a result of the storm.
Prayer Requests
- Thanksgiving to God for our first 4 completed homes on the first street.
- Encouragement for Bob and Joann whose trailer we started.
- Encouragement for Karen next door as we begin our work with her.
- Good sleep for the team.
No pictures this evening as we haven’t had time to get them uploaded. Hopefully we can get a double helping tomorrow!
