Florida Mission Day 1 Recap

We had some technical difficulties getting this posted last night, but I think we’re back in business now! While we head off to start Day 2, you can enjoy this recap from our day of travel and settling in.  Each day a couple different team members will share about the day from their perspective.  We’re mainly doing this from our phones, so we apologize in advance for typos or weird formatting.

We had a great 1st day and the team is starting to get to know each other.  We made it to Florida with only a slight flight delay.  After getting our rental vans we grabbed some food and headed to our home for the week in Kissimmee.

We are staying at a vacation rental home a mile from Give Kids the World and it’s great from what we’ve explored so far (though we all agreed it felt a little weird as if we were breaking in to someone’s home).  We had our team meeting and devotions out in the lanai by the pool.  (Also weird: using words like “lanai” when referring to where you’re staying on a mission trip. It was truly a blessing to find such a great deal on the perfect housing situation so close to where we will serve.  It will also be nice to be able to make a lot of our own food.

Speaking of, Becky, Bekah, and Jordan made a run to Walmart to get food for breakfast in the morning and a few other basics we needed around the house.  We’re definitely already enjoying how warm it is.

We’ll leave you for the night with today’s theme verse from 1 Thessalonians 1:4 “For we know, brothers and sisters, that you are loved by God and he has chosen you.”

We head to bed resting in that love and grateful we are chosen as his own!
