A 12-Hour Simulation for Students in Grades 9 – 12
The Basics
Who: Students in Grades 9 – 12.
When: Saturday, February 11, 2012, from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. (Facebook Event)
Cost: $5 (includes purchasing one Bible for a Christian in China). Students are encouraged to ask for pledges to purchase additional Bibles.
What is it?
Over 200 million Christians worldwide are being tested and persecuted for the sake of Christ. On February 11, high school students from churches all over WNY will gather at First Trinity to get a very small taste of what it’s like to live in a place where being a Christian is against the law.
Locked Up is a 12-hour simulation in which First Trinity’s basement will be transformed into a simulated prison for illegal Christians. Through games, activities, and challenges this event will:
- Challenge and encourage students’ spiritual strength
- Dare students to pray continually
- Help them discover more gratitude for God’s Word
- Increase awareness about the Body of Christ around the world and the freedom we really do have to live out our faith here in America
Do you have the courage to stand with your persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ for 12 hours? Sign up on the Facebook Event Page to get Locked Up. Be sure to also print off and turn in the Parent Consent Form. It is required for participation.
Can’t participate? Help in other ways!
Pray for the students! These students are choosing to be Locked Up for 12 hours on a Saturday to experience a little bit of what it would be like to live in a country where being a Christian is illegal. It won’t be easy, but I truly believe God is going to do amazing things in their lives through this event.
Pray for persecuted Christians! Our students will experience slight persecution for only 12 hours. Yet, we have brothers and sisters all over the globe to experience much more extreme testing and even torture each and everyday. Lift them up in prayer.
Sponsor them! As part of this experience, we are working with Sowers International, the organization Pastor and Marty Doster went to China with this fall, to put God’s Word into the hands of Christians in China. Each Bible costs $3 which means if you sponsored a student for $1 for each hour they’re locked up, you could help send 4 Bibles to our brothers and sisters across the globe!
